i have noticed if i load a photo which has same jpeg number it replaces the original one ie you name photo 1, 009,and 2 or three weeks later load another photo2 numered 009 it will replace photo1 as well,i have now made a list of numbers or names used so i will not have this prob ken

Yes, that will happen. We have a couple of options. First, the way it currently works. Use unique names and that will solve the problem.
Another option would be to take away the modify rights on the users upload folder. You will always be able to write a new file there but never overwrite a file. If you wanted to change a picture in a post you would need to upload a unique name AND then edit the post.
However, everytime something like this is brought up it gets me thinking of new ways to approach things. I have a couple of ideas, let me see what's is actually workable and then I'll get back. In the meantime use unique names.

Exactly Ken! Even in our own computers if you load two pics with the same name or number, it replaces the original photo. This is not a problem of the forum's picture loading system.
