Not that anyone on this forum needs to be told that model trains are "the thing," but here's a neat item that ran on NBC Nightly News...

| Glad you posted Tony-I missed it as i was asleep due to having to be at work at midnight. Good to see model trains getting national attention on the news. I too beleive the older toys were better in the day as you used your imagination and not a joystick or computer screen for games and such. The older toys are making a comeback because they are fun and simple

My mother-in-law (god bless 'er!) called and told me she saw that and to look for it online. It's an interesting clip!
What I didn;t care for were the metrics used to claim a "growth industry". I mean, it's pretty easy to claim that "sales are up 40% over the last two years" when your PRICES have gone up nearly as much. And that was just one company.
Still, it was a positive piece and it's nice to see the hobby get some unsolicited recognition!
Maybe this will spur a run on all that old TYCO stuff, eh? TIME TO HOARD THOSE BN BOXCARS! [:P]

I missed that story too. Thanks. I keep thinking that someone other than guys over 40, or just under, are buying or using all this new train equipment that you see in the magazines.
