We return to the Lincoln Nebraska area to find a local passenger train using leased Alton Railroad equipment to bring travelers home for the holidays.
Consolidation type locomotive built in 1916 by Baldwin Locomotive Works. First of five passenger cars built in 1911 by Pullman Company.
Filled to capacity with happy customers heading home for Thanksgiving.
Weather is comfortable for this time of year in southeastern Nebraska.
Fertile countryside of Ashland Nebraska has many farms.
Gentle railroad curves are the norm in this region.
Happy Thanksgiving.

| A short distance away we see the freight set pass a small school building.
Some children ignore their studies and marvel at the colorful set as it moves past their school.
Some kids wish they can ride that train with the crew to Bergen Point New Jersey. Some may even become railroad employees years later.
What a great time to be a kid and daydream.
Reality sets in when their teacher tells them to return to class for studies.
Still some kids gaze at the slow moving little red caboose before returning to their classrooms. Oh well.

They keep on coming. PGW Railroad switcher 3233 leads another excursion bound for Bergen Point NJ.
She leads a five car set past scenic Stephens State Park near Mount Olive NJ.
She coasts downgrade during her run thru this gentle terrain.
Many different birds live in this beautiful state park.
Their different songs and melodies are relaxing while the train passes by.
A relaxing brook nearby offers trackside views for picturesque photo opportunities.
A pleasure to visit this attractive area only a short drive away.

The conga line of vintage sets continues. A Colorado visitor is the next one to enter the Garden State.
The engineer eases on the throttle as the train descends the grade outside Hackettstown New Jersey.
Cool crisp autumn air accents the wonderful scents of the many pine trees that fill this forested area.
Blasts of steam whistles echo off the hillside as she passes numerous private crossings.
She drowns out the sounds of chickadees and sparrows as she moves eastward toward Bergen Point.
Three car set filled with happy riders ready to visit family members back east.
Another wonderful day to view trains amid splendid forest scenery.

The next visitor to the Garden State is from Florida the Sunshine State.
Western and Atlantic train number 45 pulls a six car load.
Many happy riders have made the long trek to visit family members up north.
Some riders also wish to visit the many attractions and holiday displays in Bergen Point.
The train is part of Western and Atlantic's many iron horse ramble fan trips to the northeast.
They always sell out months in advance.
This train has just left the Narrows of Musconetcong Hills and is entering Hackettstown NJ.
Cool crisp pine scented air is certainly different than Florida's warm and humid air mass.
She is finally near the end of her long journey northward.

IHC yes. It has proven to be a reliable piece and a good puller. Over the years I've had it, it has gone from DRGW to N de M and now to B&M, analog to DCC, and now back to analog. I must say, I have always had a weakness for the 44 tonner. The dual motor Bachmann version was a good running piece (but I burned it up in my first attempt at DCC installation).

| The TF Railroader News December 15 2016
The popular Central Pacific set is seen on the Lackawanna Cutoff Section.
Passing by the village of Cedar Lake NJ.
Workers always repairing sections of the busy rail line.
Train crawls by while workers conduct their activities.
Three car set is at capacity as usual.
Will be in New Jersey for the rest of the busy holiday season.
Comfortable day to take photos of the train.
Another pleasant day in New Jersey.
