What I was trying to say is inside the cab. I tried to send a picture but find this form confusing to send pictures.

I think you're referring to the backhead of the boiler, and they are open at the top. There's nothing to cover that opening.

Thanks Nelson. I thought there should be. As soon as I find out how to put pictures up I will send a few of my layout for everyone to comment on and give me some advise.
