** The last photo shared here is of a Fleischmann 2-6-0 with tender. It has a metal body frame and tender. Now this one is a beat up Fleischmann 0-6-0 without its tender. It would have been a plastic body and tender with a metal frame. I got it for a few dollars at the Somerset train show on Saturday. It is all beat-up and poorly paint, with the piping done in silver paint in a sloppy manner. I was told it didn't run, so It is a parts loco. * I got the loco home and applied power to the brushes and it ran. I tried, in the condition as it was, to put it on the tracks and run it and it didn't go. All I did was use my K-D wheel cleaned and now it runs. Well so much for it being a parts engine. The only tender I have that will work with this loco is a Lima Austrian one. Now to refinish the loco and tender, painting them in the same way. * I choose the late war time way they camouflaged the locos. They would be painted a light gray. The loco was only run at night. There were no lights and during the day they would be parked out of sight somewhere like inside a tunnel or under a bridge or out in the open under camouflage netting. * My loco will be the "Little Gray Ghost". Here is the only photo I took of it in the tray after the train show, with the other trains I got that day. Frank

My latest Fleischmann is the E-44 Bo-Bo Electric 1345. It will be seen here on its first run on my layout. I acquired it on 11-16 2017 at the Greenberg train show in Edison NJ yesterday. frank

A most astonishing collection. I picked up two of those Fleischmann dome cars from a TFer, and use them in a 1971 Amtrak transition train.

* Here are the two 01 class Fleischmann Pacifics that I have, 1360 and 1366. Both have different boilers and cabs. Bolt have American style pilots cast to the boilers. The earliest 1360 has a front number board 01-1952 and two cab side number boards. The top one says 1360, and the lower one 01-1952. On the back of the motor, seen looking into the Cab rear is printed. Fleischmann, Made in the American Zone. A very old and unique locomotive. * The other, the bottom one, cab side has only one number board, saying 1366. It has a front number board saying 1366-67. that is all that is printed there. No where does it say it is a 01 class, but it is. Now underneath it is printed, Fleischmann, Made in Germany. frank

I still have my nearly complete collection of Fleischmann HO trains 1952-1990. I had the pleasure of visiting the Fleischmann factory and spending a day visiting with Oscar Fleischmann in 1988. I'll scan and post some photos.

I have multiple Fleischmann locomotives of my own, which you guys probably already know if you've seen my LOTW's from the last few weeks or so.
My first one is a 1955 Fleischmann Baldwin switcher in what I presume Fleischmann's attempt at a NYC livery. This is the very first version of this locomotive that they made and 1955 (when this one was made) was the first year they started producing these Baldwin switchers. I absolutely love this livery, it looks sleek.I got it at a train show yesterday with a Bachmann freight car for only $32. When I first put the locomotive on the tracks, it kinda wobbled down the tracks and I found that the front truck wasn't even touching the tracks. On top of that, the engine kept cutting out in random intervals. So, I opened it up and found very quickly that at some point someone opened it up to try and do basic maintenance on it and, to put it very simply, didn't put it back together right. The brushes weren't able to screw in because a metal wire going off to some electrical pickup near the motor was put back in in the wrong place. So, with that revelation (which took quite a while to figure out ), I unscrewed the brush, put everything in the right places, and screwed it back in and wallah! The screw finally went in, so it wasn't stripped like I feared it was. Then, I put it back together and after some adjustments, the engine stopped wobbling down the tracks and all the wheels were on the tracks. After I lubricated the gears and ran the locomotive in for a few minutes, it ran like it most likely did all the way back in 1955. This locomotive is literally the oldest HO locomotive I own.

My next locomotive is a Fleischmann BR 89 from about 1965 that I got off of Ebay for around $40-$45 a little while ago. After a bit of cleaning, lubrication, and running in, it runs as good as new. Love this little guy.

My final one for now (I have two others, but I really don't want to dig them out right now. Especially since one of them is going to be my next LOTW. )is a Fleischmann German class E44 in Great Northern livery that I bought at a train show last year for only $30. Looks and runs as good as new despite being from around 1957 (as I eventually found out).

I have to say, out of all the HO manufacturers I've dealt with over the years, Fleischmann has got to be amongst the most trouble free.
-Steve
"A lot of modellers out there who go to these train shows see broken HO stuff and go, 'This is useless' when, in reality, they can still be used for modeling whether it's as a prop on your layout or a cool project to make something old new again."
