Did Tyco make a Durango bobber caboose?
They did make a Pennsy style in Durango caboose and a search light car with a bobber caboose body like the other search light cars. Both examples can be found at the Tyco Train Collectors Resource Site.
I was looking at some HO rolling stock a fella was selling and I saw a Durango bobber caboose. When I flipped it over the chassis was the same as a Lionel bobber, I've posted at the forum and has been confirmed, that has a tin bottom and says Rivarossi on the coupler boxes. I didn't buy it but when I got home I compared the Lionel bobber, with a Rock maintenance caboose on flat car , and found that they are the same dimensions but not 100% exact tooling.
Did Tyco make the Durango bobber or did the original owner, not this guy, switch the original Durango search light body, that came with the set, onto a Rivarossi frame?

Sounds like the old switcheroo. Tyco bobber body on the Rivarossi frame.

I think someone just swapped shells on you. I know the the tyco bobbers, maintanance cars and clearance cars have the same compartment shell on them. You can swap to your hearts content making all kinds of unique roadstock. I don't know about swapping frames between manufacturers although it wouldn't surprise me.

Thanks for the comments. I thought I was on to another variation. It matched perfectly, I should have looked more carefully. With you I've had 3 who say the same thing, Caboose Fraud.

I think it's probably correct that this Durango bobber is a "cobble job" but there is a PRR bobber with a metal frame that is labled Tyco Mantua on the Internett auction site. This one looks to be different than the PRR searchlight car caboose version but this also might be a common swap.
