Over a week ago I put up a post explaining what I thought I should not be doing here. At that time I promised to post again regarding what I thought you should be able to expect from me in the role of forum admin.

I took a week to mull it over and let the emotions of last weeks disturbance subside. I think the following is very fair to myself and moreso, the members of this forum.

  • I will login to the forums twice a day as New_York_Central and check my PM's. If there is nothing there I will assume I can go about my business.
  • My cell phone number will be given to 3 forum members who practically live here. They can call me 18 hours per day if the site is unreachable for some reason.
  • I will only intervene in personal disputes when they go public as in 3 cases over the past 5 years. Everyone here has the ability to ignore another members post (IgnoreMember Mod) and to add individual members to their PM ignore list.
  • I will continue in my "hands off approach". I am a true believer in Freedom and Liberty, not totalitarian control.

I welcome comments at this time, especially if you think I may have missed something. I do however stand firm on the above bullet points.

I have noticed this thread of being dormant so I thought I would have this say. I enjoy the forum almost nightly and check out the active posts that interest me a little. I add to a thread on occasion but not daily... I am not one who reads every post to every thread, so obviously I miss a lot.

As for what sparked the recent flare up I have absolutely no clue. I have not been active in the contests so I have not read any of those posts and now have no desire to.. I noticed one post on the forum a while back that was obviously from a disturbed member, so I knew from that there was an issue going on.

So what I can say about Todd , New York Central...is, I hope you remain active on the forum. You have always been a class act from what I have seen from this forum, and I had done atleast one nice Ebay transaction with NYC. This being a yellow version of the Burlington box car by Tyco.

Thank You, for all of the kind things you have done for the members of the forum.

In the end, we are all here attempting to escape our troubles, stressors and realities, and capture, foster, nourish and support happier portions of our childhoods (and adulthoods).

These are toy trains, gentlemen. Played with, collected, displayed, cherished, kitbashed, customized and personalized by a pretty decent bunch of fellas.

I offer each of you my most sincere apology for creating a potentially negative ripple in this small world we have created -and desperately try to maintain and protect - from the pettiness and ugliness of the outside world, and from becomming "too grown up."

One last thing...
It is my most sincere hope that all our "brothers-in-rails" come back into the fold, in due time, with a measure of grace, and with open arms from ALL of us. Together we stand, divided we fall.

Thank you for this opportunity to express myself, and for this forum.

Robert

Thanks for your work, NYC. From what I've seen, you're doing a great job!

As for the forum...I'm not sure exactly what went on, but I do know I sent a couple PMs. All I ever intended to do was let someone know that I wouldn't be able to participate in the contest. If anything I said in PMs or on the board was taken otherwise, sorry.

I hope things pick up from here on out. I haven't even bothered to log in for several days because there was nothing going on. Even the LotW and CotW threads, which I LOVE to read, seemed dead for a couple weeks. It looks like that's changing for the better too.

Many of us will be snowed in today...so it's a great time to play with our trains! Let's see some new posts on here!
