My kit has an orange roof. Model #943:700 is on the Box. I upgraded the cars and also added an interior wall to separate the cashier area from the service bays. I left the paint the same.

Comments ( from the resident AMC guy ) :

I bought this station because it had the AMC AMX cars, it's my only Tyco building I really wanted so far. So, to update Brian's fine video, I had to comment on the cars. Both models are 1968, meaning the Chevy Camaro, and the AMC AMX ( not Javelin ). The AMX was based off the Javelin, but it is a distinct model, because it , like the Corvette, is the only other true two-seat American-made muscle car ( there was no factory back seat, nor provision for one ). The Javelin is a 4-seat pony car, and 12 inches longer and the rear quarter/sail panel area is different. The '68 AMX cars and the Camaro cars are both used on the Tyco Bilevel Autoloader car as well. I have the blue roof version of this station, not sure how many cars came with it originally, but mine (bought off Ebay ) had 3 AMXs and 1 Camaro in the box. Mine weren't glued down, but has the indentations in the "concrete". No glue found on any of the 4 cars tires or the concrete, so I"m assuming they left them loose in the later edition.
Thanks for the fine vid, Brian, very enjoyable. I think my station is intact and complete, I just pulled it out of it's box for the first time since I bought it,, because of this video. I have the Union 76 sign, stickers are near perfect, no peeling, missing one upper light, has two lower, two display racks, and the tire rack ( tires on top came unglued, but in the box ). One serviceman also. Overall, a nice piece, and I should set it up someplace soon.

Thanks, I gently popped them off with a flat screw driver. I kept the cars although I broke two axles. Other than that the cars are fine. They are the Cameros.

Brian, Thanks I thought that since this was a 70' station I would go with 70's cars. AMC pacer is a 75 I think, got a 79 Firebird, A 78 Impala in the garage and a 72 chevy pick up pulling out. The green suv is a too modern, but it is techically not "ON" the station!

well IF I ever got one I'd change the 2 gas pumps Stick one on the right side of building where the tire display is & put the tires close to building So it could be put on a corner I do think it looks odd with TWO 76 signs on one side

That is a good idea. I have not decided if the location in permanent yet. I originally planed on a fire station at that spot. It took me a few weeks looking on ebay to get this building, They were/are selling pretty high. I bid on one,but it went for $50. Than another guy had one buy it now for $89! I ended up getting mine which was new in its box for just under $30 dollars including shipping. Not bad for something that probably cost under $5 dollars thirty years ago, lol!

Yes, the prices seem to be all over, one week you can't get one for under $50, the next there's 2 or 3,and I think I paid around $20 for mine, since the box was crushed some, and had water damage. I think it's due to the AMX and Camaro cars that drive it high, if you see the Bi-level auto rack with the same cars, a car-missing rack won't even sell for $3, but with all 6, usually over 20 bucks. And the box makes a difference, too, for the Union 76 garage collector. Good deal you probably got, Yoda say.

Yes, they did! Never got much press, but the 390 and 401 small blocks were potent enough, Shirley Shanahan ran an AMX/SS in 69 I believe, for a few years after that. AMC Trans Am Javelin won the Championship in '72, after Chevy and Ford pulled factory support, but was it because they were scared to be beat by a tiny 4th automaker? Or other reasons? Anyway, American Motors never got the the respect some of it's cars deserved.

I was joking about AMC making a muscle car. I was a car nut since birth & a friend of mine had an AMX. However, I never thought they (AMC) were really much of a "muscle car". When those big block Chevy's and hemis come along... It's little wonder why AMC muscle got little to no press..

1970 was the rarer model, , one year redesign up front, went to ball joints from another type of suspension design, less were made than in 68 and 69. Hope to see your pics soon as well! Keep me posted!

My Mom bought a 1969 Rambler brand new & kept it for 22 years. AMC also made a 69 Rambler (red white & blue) with the hood scoop and racey look. A nice looking car but not much of a drag race contender. But, As I mentioned the big blocks Chevy's & Hemi's were just soo much more than they could handle...

I love that set!!! Since I need a structure for my US-1 truck stop and I don't have the heart to kitbash a real TYCO 76 station, I think I'm going to seriously mod a Plasticville structure to look like the TYCO version.

FWIW... Union 76 is still alive and well. There is even a website for it-

That means I have the '75-'81 edition.Mine is mint in box and my issued variant doesn't have the vehicles glued down. Instead, theres some dimples in the base for the Javelin's rear tires to help keep in place. I haven't even tryed out the lights! Brian, I'm guessing the '75-'81 issued station didn't have figures? They're shown on the box, but, no holes or anything on the base for them to attach to.

Here's the auction pic of the box, it's not perfect but very nice.
Brian your video was helpful:)

see how that one has the 2nd island around the corner? I want to do that to the double island I find
I did think it silly to have 2 islands on the same side with 2 76 signs

Busss,

I'm glad to have bought this at a decent price, in very good condition and to have the box also.
There was another service station at auction today and it had may missing parts no box and was more expensive so I'm fortunate.

yeah its nice Hosed? naaah but what its missing is the lights that face up to the signs At least 3 of them & one light that faces down
Don't think that'd be hard to do Tho I'd light my signs up instead

My service station arrived this week and it's as nice as these auction pictures and even the wife

thought the box art was very cool.

Busss is right why did they stick the pump islands together?

Would some of the stations produced have pump islands positioned more like the box art?

It may just be a coincidence but the colors of the cars on my station match the arrangement of the ones at the beginning of your video Brian, red or orange, white and blue and the center car on mine is an white AMX like yours.
It looks like the corner box art photo, not painting, shows the same color arrangement but with Camaros.

Always wanted to find this one as a kit, but it seems it never was sold that way.
