Here are some of my Life-Like ups that i purchased back in the 90's around Christmas time from Kay-Bee Toy store. They would blow out train accessories after Christmas with Huge markdowns. I think i have more in another tote somewhere - this is from 1 tote

Cool stuff Brian. I don't remember seeing any of these at toy stores near here back in the day. They had some Plasticvile buildings at Toy R Us but that was about it.

I did have a set of those signs in the bottom left corner. Those may have come from a Toys R Us, but I'm not positive. I still have one of the signs on my current layout

Nice collection Brain!

I too have collected a few LifeLike light ups. I love light ups by LifeLike & Tyco. I have several LL Expressway packs that I wanted to use along my planned slotcar section of the train layout. Then I found the Tyco Fluorescents that I just had to have instead. Lifelike has some great signs & lights. They go way back on the different designed blister cards...

Hey Ben! The good thing is that the LifeLike light ups are still avalible, and can usually be found fairly reasonably priced. Lifeloke has many good lighted items including their little billboards.

Hey Brian!, Yeah, we have basically the same thing in the pics!. I have a much better collection of the Tyco lights. Once I saw the Tyco Fluorescents, I knew those would be what I would use as my slotcar highway lights. I think (without counting) that I have 41 packages of 2, Fluorescents and 10 loose poles. I will buy a few more packs to have an even hundred.

I enjoy both LifeLike & Tyco light ups. I had mostly LifeLike lights as a kid...

Walt -- I too like the Tyco flourescents and other Tyco lights as you as well as Life-Like light ups - Ebay has some good deals every once in a while on lots of these. My favorite Life-Like would have to be the Expressway lights and My Favorite Tyco lights would be the Mercury lights and the Floodlight Tower as i had these as a youngster. MY First layout i built that i lit the streets up with were Life-Like Flourescent streetlights - They eventually burn holes from heat through the cover though

Hi Brian! That is some good info on the Fluorescent lights burning holes in the covers. I had zero fluorescents as a kid, so I have no experience with them. I believe I will have to set the lights up on a controlled circut so they don't get so bright & hot. The lifeLike Expressway lights are my favs too. They are nearly the same as the Tyco Mercurys other than the color. I have seen some brown & white carded Mercury lights with clear bulbs. I have maybe 5 or 6 packs of the Mercury lights.

As I see it, having many styles of light ups on a layout will look better than all of them being the same

My layout plans are kind of a dedication of Tyco & LifeLike products that I had soo much fun with as a kid. 99% of my LifeLike items are buildings & light ups. I have only 4 LifeLike train cars. I have a very few AHM pieces & a couple of Bachmann pieces that are welcome on my set-up.

Basically, my layout is just going to be an very exagerated version of my 1970s set up.... I have bought ALL of the pieces I had back then, plus a ton of Tyco buildings, trains & light ups, that i never had before.

I'm totally jealous of you guys. This is some great stuff. I also remember when Kay-Bee was one of my model railroad stops. I took it for granted, and now it's gone.

Thanks for the recognition Burlington77!

I had noticed my posted photo did not have the old A&P lighted signs in it. Here they are buried in a small gathering of Tyco Mercury poles. The A&P lights are probably not very far up on the popular list for most people. I liked the A&Ps from back when there was an A&P store in my hometown.

In the 70's I had the 711 store kit by LifeLike, but it was the later version called "Convenience Store". I used my pair of A&P lights at each front side of the building. My present kit is the 711 store by L-L. So the A&P poles will be displayed elsewhere being merely a roadside advertisemnt in two different areas. I'm not sure if the A&P lights are offered by L-L today, but they are not rare and pop up on auction quite a bit

Hey Mike! The "sceneria" is just another great part of the train hobby!!!

For anyone wondering what the "17" is in my photo, that photo was taken when I was listing what went in which storage box. I have all of my boxes numbered and a list of what's in them in my PC documents. This makes finding a single piece much easier! Box 17 is all light ups & signs.

I got this pack of Life-Like fluorescent poles with signs on Ebay a few days ago. MicroBen had mentioned the "Train Station" sign a while back that I had totally forgotten about. Got'em for $2.99 ...

real cool walt
About the Airport sign? You could have that sign pointing away from the road leading to a dead end or off the layout completely
