Got to see this Locomotive in Gastonia NC in 1992 up close. A lady i knew who was in local womens Republican party gave me a Free pass for his stop at the Cox Rd RR crossing at Gastonia/Ranlo city limits. The train was on Norfolk southern tracks. There were 3 trains total. The first 2 trains were decoys - when both arrived -15 minutes apart -the presidential music played and crowds cheered thinking it was president - trains were heavily guarded and an military helicopter (black -unmarked) flew up and down tracks with a mine sweeper and other bomb detecting technology in the 1992 time period before and when his train stopped - i have pictures but i can't remeber if have any of train engine -will look.....

Hey Brian,

Pictures of the helo with mine detecting gear deployed would be very cool! The chopper guys at the club would probably take it as a challenge to try to build a model of it. Was it a black hawk?

Not sure Hypoponera - i just remember it being black in color no markings - good sized chopper - i don't have pictures of it - if they have a way to video memory frorm our brains - would be awesome -or maybe they do and no-one knows about it - the mine sweeper was a small dish under helicopter that moved back and forth. there also were a lot of antenna's on the chopper too - there was also a white dome underneath in center.
