Hey all I'm new here. Well my wife bought me a Tyco Durango set for Christmas this year. There is a Gulf 3 Dome tanker instead of a boxcar. Also does anybody know if there are repair kits? The loco quit moving. The motor still works, but the wheels quit moving. It worked long enough to make it around mom and dads tree for me to read it was to me from my wife. Pretty neat though. It is older than I am. I was born in 1978. I'm getting ready to set my trains back up since I've been in my house. Talk to everybody later. Chris

Welcome and ask away. Probably not a major problem. Who knew Tyco would become generational!?

Hey, welcome to the forum.
There are a lot of great repair tips on this site. I learned what little I know from reading the forums here. Take a look at the maintenance and repair shop section for tips. I'm guessing your loco is what's known as a PowerTorque (PT). I've had problems in the past with the pinion gear slipping off after a short run. It will run along fine, then it stops dead but you can hear the motor racing. Look under the front truck for a small gear that turns the larger gears. Use your fingernail or a small screwdriver to push it back in a little, making sure the gears mesh. If that works, you know where to start.
Good luck!

Welcome to the forum Chris! I agree with Burlington. Sounds like the pinion gear is slipping on the armature (the small silver one). I've fixed a couple of these with a drop of super glue.
