In the non-Tyco theme, here's another:

So I'm not a big billboard fan, but this is another rare exception. It's a Lionel-HO from the 70's, was hard for me to find.
So what do you see in the graphic: a ball laughing its way through a cluster of hapless pins, or some sort of yin-yang motif?
Regardles, there's nothing better to deliver the load of balls for this year's Annual Saint Canard 10th Frame Brewchug and Pretzel Festival

Boy, that is a real hard to find item. I've seen pretty much everything Lionel made in HO back in the 70's, but I've never seen this one back then. Must have been a specialty item Lionel made. I haven't seen it in any of the catalogs from 1974 to 1977.

Here's a Model Power searchlight car. From what I've read on here, it's based on an old Marx mold.

Hi All,
Great cars guys! My Cotw is a 1979 AHM fifty foot Christmas car. I forgot I had it till I started digging through some train boxes next to one of my computers I was working on. It was a nice suprise.
I hope you enjoy the picture.

Very nice cars! I love that AMF car. I have seen it before searching for AMF equipment on eBay. I am a huge bowling fan and also love to bowl so it caught my eye.
I HOPE EVRYONE HAS A MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR! FOR THE PEOPLE WHO DON'T CELEBRATE CHRISTMAS, THEN HAPPY HAUNAKA!!!.....LOL

Good eyes, John. For a few moments I thought I was getting a Christmas present! However, when I examined the cars under a glass I saw that all four logos were the same... with Philadelphia mis-spelled on each. But wait, when I looked at the loco logo, it too has Philly mis-spelled, both sides! I have the loco posted as TLoW. Anyway, thanks for the heads up and Merry Christmas.

I looked sporadically on ebay for that car for 2 or 3 years - even before joining this forum - and never found one; this can only mean there's about 6 of them there now. It's just one of many, many uncataloged cars from Fundimensions Lionel. As you note, their catalogs of the era were pretty sparse, but the Greenberg Guide to Lionel HO Vol. 2 has it pretty well covered.
You can always tell a Lionel car (even some of the ones made by Kader and others) from the road number. Lionel always used a sequential series per model, per year. For example, the "88512" in on the AMF boxcar roughly means
88 - Car series, in this case the 40' boxcar 5 - production year; "5" being 1975, "6" being 1976, and so on 12 - roadname in sequence. So there are (at least) 12 cars in the 40' boxcar range. But I don't think that's per year. If 88408 was the last boxcar from 1974, the next one was 88509. I don't have my book in front of me to check my facts or specific examples, but I think that's how it went.
Lionel's own tooling always followed some version of this numbering scheme. The outsourced cars by Kader and others may or may not have done so. For example, the Kader coil cars most certainly did NOT - they were identical to Bachmann, AHM, etc. But I think the Kader boxcars and/or hoppers may have as they were exclusive to Lionel (by roadname at least).

I've seen exactly ONE of these at a train show, and they wanted $20 for it. More than I wanted to pay, I used to bowl alot, but haven't in 10 years ( since I met my future wife, so my interest shifted I guess :) ) I'd still like to have one, though. - Jerry -

I love the donkey engine, Frank. Was that included with the flatcar, or is it a detail you added?
