I hesitated to put these up, because I suspect they aren't actually train-related. They came in a box of various HO structures in an auction. They're marked "Mattel 1972" so I assume they're toys that got mixed in with the rest of the lot. Any ideas?

I don't know what they are from, but just make them fit your layout in whatever capacity you can. That's half the fun!

those buildings are from an old wooden train set. you wound the smoke stack on the engine & that made it go. it ran on wooden tracks too. i still have mine that i got around 1974-1975. although i don't have any track left & the engine doesn't work anymore. i have the engine, flat car, & three box cars. i also have the two smaller buildings that you have in the picture. their almost perfect for O gage.

Thanks, smokie. That solves it. A quick google search for "mattel 1972 wooden train" brought up more info. That was just a little bit before my time. Looks like fun!

I also found the loading dock that the smaller building sits on. I just didn't realize what it was for.
