here's my latest build. it is a factory atlas 2504 southern & it looked like hammered crap. the walk boards where painted white from the factory. why? all i did was strip it down to bare plastic, paint & decal it. then a heavy weathering. i think it's the best one i've done yet.

Very nice. I am attempting something similar, a Southern SD24, no. 6336.
Using a TYCO loco as a starting point.

i wouldn't mind doing a tyco sd24 in a southern tux. if i could get the pilots filled in for body mounted couplers & it look good i would do it. i might do one up anyways. i just have to use a good tyco shell, the sd24 tyco engines are hard to find. i might do a ihc if i can get one cheap enough. i'm a cheap bastard, what can i say. lol

I'm going to chop the coupler off the truck and fill in the pilot with some
.040 sheet styrene. Then body mount a coupler. Put some detail parts on the pilot like MU hoses and such, might look o.k.
My screen name for this forum was going to be "Train Show Scrounge".
I have managed to find some TYCO SD24's at train shows. Paid less than $10.00 for this one and it was in decent shape.
