Found a new one in brown box a few weeks ago:

I doubt this one went far into the brown box era; the box was diamond dated for November 1971.
This was an exciting enough find, but little did I know... when I inquired if the seller had anything else in a similar vein - seeing as how he'd been trickling out Tyco for months and this was the 3rd interesting thing I'd bought - boy was I in for a shock!
Suffice to say a long-in-works deal for a bulk buy of standard redbox 40' boxcars turned up a few surprises, which I'll share here over the coming days. Good stuff. And I might have enough cars to warrant a "pre-brown-box" section on my site eventually.

You've got me drooling in anticipation... I don't recall seeing an SP boxcar.
Great find!

My family and I have stayed here twice and what a great place...
Steam engine going by daily from Strausburg Railway, and the Pennsylvannia Railway Museum within a stones-throw of the Caboose Motel.
Toy Train Collector's Museum 50 yards from the motel also.

Hi Mike. I have the same car. But, there is a slight difference. I got Mine when I stayed there Oct 1, 1995. Hope to be going to Railroad Museum Of PA, The National Toy Train Museum Toys Train Collectors) and The Choo Choo Barn this coming week. Who knows might find another variation

How could I forget the Choo Choo Barn, everytime I see it, there is something I never noticed before.
What a great area. If I did not like where I live in southern Ontario, Pennsylvannia would be my next wish!!!

Fitting there are a bunch of cabeese in here, my two little side projects have been done for awhile and I finally managed to get pictures tonight.
Closest one was originally a solid blue model power caboose, just a number & no road name from my original collection of stuff. I found out it was a perfect candidate for turning into a PRR N6B. Its been done quite a few times before, but now you can buy uber detailed ones from Walthers. Still I like mine, decals came out bad they didn't lay too well. But I like it none the less. I upgraded the trucks, the old ones snapped into the chassis & these were meant to be screwed in. I filled in the holes then drilled them out. Runs awesome now!
2nd caboose is the infamous PRR N5C. Its a Bowser and they make a ton of variations on this. Found this one in a stack of stuff at a local train ride over the summer. I made windows for both cabooses. The N6B I just had a hook horn for testing, I need to figure out the easiest way to get some kadees on there and it will be in service.

Chris,
Keep one end of the cabooses X2F (Horn-Hooks) and the other end knuckle coupled. They will be addable to any circa trains.
John
I don't have a one track mind. It depends on the turn-out. "I love your catenary!" Is that a power-trip or just another pick-up line?

We have quiet a few cars like that. This might become another. The coupler pockets under the model power chassis are kinda weird. I should have just shaved them off and stuck on new pockets. But that that its all done & painted thats a little harder to do
