It's nice when friends know you like model trains...
A senior citizen knew I did... and boy, was I surprized!
This first one, all I know is that it's a reefer by Trix from Western Germany. Perhaps someone else has knowledge about it.

this second one is a r-t-r Roundhouse... the hobby dealer knew people in eastern Canada who used to drink this beer... er, drank one case and wish they never did. Apparently, this beer tasted terrible.

Thanks for looking.
John
I don't have a one track mind. It depends on the turn-out. "I love your catenary!" Is that a power-trip or just another pick-up line?

Awesome car Eaglerock! I really like the vermillion on the white. Looks pretty sharp. This must be a 70's era car judging from the advertisment. I have never heard of this store eaither. I have several hobby shop cars that are 50 footer like this and the only thing that I could ever come up with was that Mantua/Tyco maybe sent out a flyer to these stores giving them a deal for printing these cars up. Most of the ones I have seen are always nicely decorated. This one looked like a good store with the viariety of items carried. I am not familiar with SUPER 0 scale. They even offer standard gauge equipment..lol...wonder if that means the 4ft 8 1/2 inch scale kind...
A lone amature built the ark! A large group of professionals built the titanic!

Hey Budwsr, Most of the Mantua cars like this one seem to have very nice graphics. I'd like to find the Orange Blossom car from a week or so ago. I'm with you, I have not heard of Super O................................ Tom

The Hazlet Train Stop was a store in Monmouth County NJ.
The place was expensive and charged 30 to 40 percent over list on new items. They were able to sustain themselves because of there geographic location ....New Jersey towns like Colts Neck,Holmdel and Lincroft (towns which are 5 to 10 miles from the place)People from these towns buy what they like and do not really consider price.
Lets just say these towns are not well known for there "section 8" housing.
The place was packed after Thanksgiving and busy right up to the start of spring. Then the "regulars" (some of which I knew) and actually my present boss was one of them...kept the place going during the summer months.
The place was also famous for Postwar Lionel and early standard Gauge trains.
They also had a museum in the store with the proprietors collection on display and a fairly large layout that you could tour for 2 bucks.
The place has been closed at least 10 years now...maybe more ?

That's so cool to here the story behind one of these "fallen flag" mom&pop promo shops. I fully expect that 90% of the hobby shops that had cars made are no longer in business.
Convesely though, I've often marveled at how in the age of mergers, buyouts, brand consolidations, and bankruptcies, that 90% of the major brands Tyco cataloged "billboard" cars for are actually still around and on sale today, 30+ years later. I guess it took clout and staying power to get your name on a mass-market Tyco car!

I did wonder what happened to the store & I do HATE stores that charge almost double or more for the inventory plus these days most are going out of buisness cause of economy & of the internet Which the latter I can't afford cause I have no credit card
