Jackpot! I Found My Summer Score! Last Summer, We Vacationed In TN, And I Went To A Store Right Before Closing, And Found These In A Corner. They Were $2.50 A Pop! Atlas RR, Good Finds, Engines Trash Though. Caboose Has Kadee Wheelsets With Swirls On Them, And Kadee Trucks. The Whole Lot Was $18! I Cant Get That Much At A Show Even At That Price! Kadees Probaly Were Worth The Whole Purchase. Very Nice. I Lost Them in My Closet After Summer Last Year, And The Caboose Stayed Out. Cant Find Box Though.

Ben:
If you're interested in collecting old MRR mags, you're paying WAY too much! I mean if there is something specific in an issue sure, but you shouldn't be paying more than 50cennts per if you're buying a batch.
If you have a local hobby shop ask them if they know someone who's selling a whole collection. you'll get a better deal.
I have about 30 Train Videos all professional. Two or three will be converted to DVD but the box is going on Craigslist for $30 I see guys selling them at train shows for $5+ each and laugh as I walk by.
Also you might want to consider scanning what you want then selling them to recover your money PLUS someone else gets that material to use and learn from, since back then RMC and MR you could actually learn things from them!

Hit the fleamarkets for the the first weekend of summer, bombed out at the garage sales, yard sales and market stalls but a car boot sale found fortune in fourteen freight cars for forty dollars (slightly more in American pesos) after haggling. Check out the brand:
No Sohio tankers or Maxwell House hoppers, just a fairly common lot pre-fitted with nickel-silver wheels, brass axles and plastic knuckle couplers so a good deal all up. Gluing the brake wheel back on the Wesson tanker was the only assembly required, easy-peasy!
The seller asked if I was interested in some more unboxed Tyco he had home, WOULD I EVER! Maybe... for the right price. Gave him my number but he's yet to call, think I played it too cool.

Hi, microbusss! Don't think I'll be getting the loose Tycos. It's been a week and I haven't heard from the guy. Oh well, them's the breaks!
The Old Spice is a real looker so I've posted it in COTW at your suggestion.
UPDATE: Got a call back yesterday from Ken. (No, not that Ken, or that Ken either! What is it with Tyco and Kens?) The remainder of his Tyco collection is now the property of one tykowolf Esq. Seems it needed a bit of a clean to bring it up to scratch and fine job he did to. Mostly duplicates of what I have already but also few new ones. Plus a diesel and caboose!

Hi All,
I have not had much to post lately, So I thought I would show a few things my Wife and I picked up over the weekend. No Trains but some train related items.
The first is a bin of Diecast cars that we picked up cheap. A lot will go to the grand kids, Some to my parts tub and some to Grandpa (Me) LOL!
Next is a Bowser reference manual from 1991.
Next is a Bowser reference manual from an unknown year but older than the 1991 edition.
Next is a 1992 Mantua price and parts order list with reference manual. It has almost 50 locos and rolling stock listed with exploded views with parts numbers. This is not in a bound book form, more like a book report binder. Maybe from a repair shop or something.
Thanks for looking.
Mike

First time at a train show in a couple years. Think I was a little rusty as I was a bit too willing to jump at items...but at least I bade an offer each time less than the sticker...and the seller bit every time.
This is the the lot...
/tyco/forum/uploaded/Mustangs_n_Trains/20120211141439_001.JPG
in all, I walked in pre admission fee with $200 and walked out with $1. I think it was a good day considering I had to buy each pretty much one lot at a time. The TYCO 2-8-2 I purchased while walking to the door. He was asking $50 for the engine and the junk cars surrounding it. I offered $35. I only wanted the engine and the TYCO bobber. The navy car has glue all over the deck, but the steps are there. I might get a few $ for the bobber & flat and the engine is going straight to the chop shop.
The Bowser Pacific is near perfect and the Mallet I purchased it with, I bundled the two and talked the seller down $25 less for.
The New Haven & B&M cars I collect so I purchased each at $3-$4 each.
The Penn Line floodlight trailer with box was $15. It is missing the cab, but I have an extra one here at home. The Ulrich tilt-cab tractor was $5. and the three precision scale brass smokebox cover front-mount feedwater heaters I offered $10 for. Out of the 30 some gallons of brass cast details, these are the only three like this I will have.
They are the types that would go on an engine like this:

Hi All,
We picked up a few more things this past weekend.
First is a nice batch of cars, a lot of older ones from the 70s in great shape.
Second is a train set. It is missing the caboose, but I have plenty of spares.
Thanks for looking.

I have no idea & it certainly wasn't caused by the weight of the water heater in the back of my truck Nor the county road I drove on before Something in the road cause 3 others & me to pop our tires

Damn Ben thats shreaded! WOW! Looks like you and a few others hit some serious pointy things.....errrrrr
My best "yard sale" items is an 8 car set of N&W IHC passenger cars for $16.00 for the set! Worst part? ALL are missing the add on handrailing, and only 2 cars, have their trucks and wheelsets! (I'm adding metal Athearn trucks, with Jay-Bee wheelsets so.....THEN once in "running" condition, will be painted in B&O all blue paint with single dulux yellow pin strips!
Had railing, will be custom fitted metal, bent to fit in the factory holes!

Pay over $50 for it? Those AHM GG1's are supposedly good if they were made by Rivarossi, I think the Mehano version AHM GG1 wasn't so good, i fI remember what a guy told me about them. They seem to run about $50-100 at shows and on Ebay. I'm still trying to get an old Penn Line GG1, but those sell high(er).

Did you just say that Mehano GG1's are bad? I have one and it runs smooth as silk that I got yesterday for $40 with 3 not-so-great coaches.
