Since the Mehano 8130 Sante Fe and Virginian C430s were sold in Tyco train sets in the early '90s is it a Tyco? I know some would have it as part of their collection and I know some Mantua Tyco guys aren't interested in anything but pre-brown box era equipment.

Anybody have any ideas or information about the set?

I think you're right, some people would say no and some would say yes. Is TYCO printed anywhere on the locomotive?

Some of these car manufacturers do the same goofy things. Geo is made by GM...Isuzu vehicles look the same as GM products but carry the Isuzu emblems....ect ect...ect...

I would have to say since TYCO sold it as part of one of their sets then yes it would be worthy enough to put with the rest of my TYCO collection.

It says Tyco on the tank bottom. I believe they never said Tyco and were in Tyco sets in the early '90s.

If you look at the LotW for July 26 I mention the horns are different from the Conrail Model Power C430 to the Mehano/ (Tyco?) SF C430. I'd think they came from the same molds or manufacturer. I found my Pemco L&N C430 which is very similar, if not exactly derived with modifications, to the Mehano tooling. Notice the MP and Pemco horns are the same, in terms of spacing, and different from the SF.
The Pemco has a different casting mark on the roof and a Power Torque type power truck to mention a few differences. It, the Pemco, sort of sounds like a PT when it runs. The Pemco Alco has directional lights, neat.

Alcofan--notice also that the Pemco cab is slighlty smaller than Mantua or Tyco alco 430--I have an L&N Pemco 430 new in box also.

Does anyone have a Mehano Virginian C430 that they could post a picture of it?
Thanks.

No one has a Virginian C430 made by Mehano and sold in Tyco sets in the '90s? Would they be all wheel drive?
They must be extremely rare.
