What do the 'Hard-Wirers' use when they are doing an HO DC, Diesel Loco?
Gauge, type, brand would help.
I hard wired an F7 but the wire was too stiff & stopped the trucks from turning in the curves.
Thanks
Tanked

Wire gauge would be 20-22 or higher/ stranded as Smokie said. It is flexible and thin/small

I use wire stripped from old VCRs. Not sure what gauge wire it is.

Same here. Wiring harnesses from scrapped electronics is your best bet, and it's free.

the idea behind solid to stranded wire uses are the following:

When you turn your body, your back bone (spine) flexes to match the force needed to articulate bones, tendons, and ligaments with your muscles.

If you could not move in this manner, your movements would be very rigid, constrained and awkward.

Solid wire is used for permanent applications where movement is not constantly made.

Powerlines have stranded wire... they need to be flexible.

The tiny wires welded to prototype railroad must be stranded and slacked enough to allow for expansion and contraction due to weather effects.

"Hard-wired" pertains to how the electrical circut is wired in simplified manner- powersource to load - bypassing gauges and meters/testing equipment, monitoring devices, dcc trackage. i.e. instead of having wires from your powerpack connected to a panel of switches to separate track/blocks, you attach two wires from the powerpack directly to the track.

John

I don't have a one track mind. It depends on the turn-out.
"I love your catenary!"
Is that a power-trip or just another pick-up line?
