I just got my details parts from Yardbird trains for the Mantua Pacific. Where does all this stuff go? Is there a prototype for the Mantua Pacific, so I can get a decent photo? My loco is a 1980 version: plastic cab , exposed worm. The steam chest has a shield over it. I presume the air pumps would be behind it on the prototype. Unspoken expectations are premeditated failures.

The shield on the pilot is what would conceal the air pumps, so you might want to remove it if you intend to install them on the side. I'd contact Dan and ask his advice. The Tyco Depot

I find that studying photos of a specific loco helps. While I don't always model a specific loco down to every detail they usually end up resembling the loco in the photos. Dan's instructions are helpful also. Here's a link to a Mantua Pacific I detailed. http://www.2guyzandsumtrains.com/Forums/viewtopic/t=3031.htmlRay

Right, it has the pilot-deck mounted airpumps. The loco is basically a USRA Heavy Pacific, with detailing similar to a B&O P7:
