Well, I got some ballast from Jeremy, and decided to try. I did a 22" curve section and some straight sections. I used the method described in this video series: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_pLrJrSLdnI
Here are some pics of my progress so far, I haven't cleaned it up yet:

 The glue is still drying in that picture.


If anyone has any advice on ballasting go for it. Thanks,

That looks pretty good so far...about the same as when I first started ballasting my layout. The only advice I can give is when I ballasted my track, I used a very small paintbrush to brush ballast off of the ties. It makes it look slightly neater.

Yeah, I'm using a 1 inch brush right now. A smaller one might be helpful too.

When I ballasted, I used three different sized paintbrushes A Large one for spreading ballast, a medium one for clearing ballast away from the rails, and a small one for....actually, i dont remember what that one was for Haha...but ballasting is all about experimentation. It took me a while to get my technique down.
