Out of Tyco's #358 & #359 dozen, Covered/Center Flow Hoppers, and the #360 & #361 (11) long Reefer/Boxcars. Which one hopper & one box car is your favorite? Just one of each. AND WHY?
My favorite hopper is the Maxwell House. I had this one (of two) as a kid. Colorful & remains my favorite.
Box car I would say the SOS may be my fav, Its brilliant orange on the yellow really stands out.

Neat topic idea...
/tyco/forum/uploaded/GoingInCirclez/358-C_Domino.jpg
This one just looks right to me. Love the colors and the arrangement. This car has some prototype inspiration too, which helps placate my rivet-counting half.
(and yes, this is my famous "taped" example, to keep the peeling paint intact. I do have a perfect mint unpeeled one too, just never retook a pic. Actually, the car used in the picture currently has a yellow roof I swiped off an Old Dutch version.)
62' express reefers? Tough call. I like 3, but I think I'll settle on
/tyco/forum/uploaded/GoingInCirclez/361-H_62Box_Tropicana.jpg
Just a nice clean design... and look great as a unit train (I have 5).
Honorable mentions to:
/tyco/forum/uploaded/GoingInCirclez/361-F_62Box_Pepsi.jpg
Another excellent, clean design. Looks good next to the Tropicana cars too - maybe this was intentional, as Pepsico is the parent company of Tropicana?
/tyco/forum/uploaded/GoingInCirclez/361-C_62Box_SOS.jpg
This is a sentimental favorite, with a clue for those in the know. The reporting marks on this boxcar series often contain subtle connections and in-jokes. Is the Pepsi car a "PC" for "Penn Central" or "Pepsi Cola"? "PRR" for Pennsylvania or Popsicle RailRoad? Oranges (Tropicana) come from Florida... East Coast (FEC). And veggies at the store have to be "TA&Gged". Admittedly, I'm not sure what the connection for ATSF/StarKKist and UP/DelMonte would be. But in SOS's case, the answer was right behind the house where I grew up.
Why is the SOS car marked for Illinois Central?
Possibly, because the former Headquarters and factory for the entire company (before it was bought by Clorox) was and still survives on West 65th Street, Chicago, Illinois...

Well, the only car I have that fits this category is a Planters Peanuts hopper, I love how the gold and blue mix. But I really like the Star Kist car as well, that's one I'd love to find.

I just recently got into the hobby, so I don't have many tyco cars to choose from. I really like the Sanka car that Mike has, though.

The Star-Kist IS a nice looking car - if you find one where all the colors are registered properly. Too often I find them where the fisherman's face looks all butchered up, or has the earring in his cheekbone, or some other such effect. That was a complex design for Tyco: 4 different colors that had to be aligned perfectly = 4 different ways for things to get screwed up.
Oh and yes, there is a <s>Tyco</s> Typo on the Sanka car... I'd aluded to this in the GIC Guide, but it's arguably a bit more subtle than the Bachmann Gerber as most people don't have to spell "caffeine" every day.

Thank you guys for all of the replies here. It is a tuff call on this subject. So many of these rail cars are neat in their own way. I like them all.
One car that has not been mentioned is the Hunts Box Car. Some different colors but kind of laid out nice....

I tried to post the pic along with the subject last night but I couldn't get it to load...

A rake of Sanka hoppers behind a pair of Monon F3s is on my wishlist but still the venerable Ajax car remains my all time favourite closed hopper. Walt, I'm glad you raised the Hunts box car - I love it like a liquorice allsort and can't imagine why some folks are so scared of pink.
This topic has reminded me why I like Tyco. These billboard beauties should be reintroduced assuming licensing issues haven't killed them off forever. They'd be a smash with both the young and young at heart for sure!
Well, I'd like them anyway. I swear, I see one more nondescript mineral red or black Atlas/Athearn freight car I'll stick a 9V battery on my tongue until it drains.

I've seen one of those Baby Ruth sound cars before. Of course, I was not interested in Tyco at the time, so when the guy selling it did a demonstration, I was less than impressed.
I'd love to have one now of course!

One of my faves is the Tyco Hires Root Beer reefer. It took me a few years to find one in mint condition,I found one at the last Timonium scale show a few months ago. The seller wouldn't budge on the 5 bucks he was asking for it. I bought it anyway, what a beaut!

That is like a really tough question. At different times, one was more favorite by a nose, but for the longest time I was mad for a Sanka hopper, partly because it reminded me of that goofy Joe DiMaggio commercial where he counsels a squabbling couple to "take it easy, have some Sanka" as if that was a panacea for all the world's troubles.
Some day I'd like to build a wall display, and these would take front and center:
