Geez it's even lighted.
Not to mention the proper "floor texture", and even brake shoes!

Wow... the MSRP is as almost as much as some Athearn locomotives.

But... given the lighting effects, it might not be such a bad deal. I've looked into high-quality lighting kits for cabeese and they aren't cheap.

Maybe I'm weird, but I still don't understand the industry (and modeler, presumably) obsession with "super-detailed underframes". And I've built some obsessively detailed models myself. But unless you're running your trains upside-down, or have a glass-bottom layout with transparent ballast... or are Gomez Adams and derailing them all the time - what's the point? You should never see them!

Most modern manufacturers' couplers are quickly interchangeable. But there are a few exceptions that might need some mild modification. I haven't seen any Rapido equipment to comment on their case.

The only Rapido stuff I've ever seen is in a box marked with a $70 price tag.

Which is too bad, because being a Canadian company, they make outstanding Canadian pieces. Wouldn't mind having a VIA set made by them...

mm198,you have to have one to see why they cost so much, rivet counters love them, really are scale models, but also very fragile, museum quality, and you pay for it,but all mine were sniped cheap, take any knuckle or hook and horn couplers ken

Since we started making passenger cars, people have been asking for metal couplers. So we decided to make our own. Developed specifically for our "Canadian" project, we're going to start using them on our Super Continental Line cars in January. The "Macdonald-Cartier" Knuckle Couplers (Cartier is pronounced "CAR-tyay") are compatible with all popular knuckle couplers. Being Canadian-designed, they are guaranteed to work down to 40 below, and they will come plated in realistic hues. More info about these will come in a future edition of the Telegraph

Good thing they don't make locomotives, or else they would start making 1:87 scale diesel engines!

Rapido really raised the bar with their passenger cars, and now they're doing the same with cabeese. It is a thing of beauty, but I'd be afraid to touch it lest all that fine Delrin detail go "snap." Unless you never touch your trains (and some modelers don't), cramming on this much detail can amount to diminishing returns.

OTOH, I'm those Delrin parts are probably a lot sturdier than the stirrups on old Tyco or AHM cars.

There was a thread on the MR forum where people were complaining about serious problems with their Turbotrains. The president of Rapido addressed them all on the thread personally, which is pretty good customer service, but they tend to have erratic performance.

Got one of these in CP Yellow, just before I lost my job. It doesn't fit my opearting scheme but I'll save it to trade one day for the right Varney locomotive or something like that. I also have the TLT CP "Wooden" caboose. I like "Van's" a lot, but this and the special CNR one coming out are really for collecting. they will never leave their boxes.
