Fellow Tyco Naught, in your opinion, what is the rarest of rare Tyco locomotives produced?
The Presidential seal 430?
Super 630 with Rivarossi drive?
Northern Pacific Sharknose?
N&W 0-4-0 Pony Loco?
These are purely guesses, as I want to know which is the rarest of them all!

Dang, there's an older thread on this topic with a pretty consolidated reply, I wish I had time to find it and see if my assertions back then are still accurate.
By Loco:
F7 - Cotton Belt is RARE. Australian names are tough. Amtrak Gen2 was tough to find in comparison to earlier versions at the time (but I haven't paid attention since). E7 - none (but a MIB Milwaukee with PERFECT chrome is naturally tougher than the others) GP20 - red & silver IC. First two BN's. WP. GM&O. SD24 - none. Chessie is toughest, but perhaps not exactly "rare" 430 - GN in either version, rare. Pennsy, same. SF Blue is scarce. BN is scarce. GT can be scarce. Australian ones are scarce. There are so many variants of PennCentral that one or two might be "rare" but I haven't chased them yet. I would say the Presidential 430 is not really as "rare" as any of the above... but finding one with a perfectly intact seal is a treat, and rare itself. 630 - Phase I's are amazingly scarce. But even within those there are variants, as I just discovered. One with ALL the nose ladders is a rarity of rarities. GG1 - none. But all seem popular and NH seems to bring the most interest. Shark - NP, Canadiana, SF - all scarce to rare. Switcher - austrailian, BN, PC Steam - I have no idea. Well a few but I don't feel qualified to make a firm judgement.
Even among these, of which I have all but a few, there are only two, maybe three, that I paid more than $40 shipped for. Most I got for $30 or less. So rarity does not always = value. Or maybe I am lucky. Or maybe I'm just good at running an average to balance the couple I DID pay quite a bit more for.

i love tyco, just find it d m hard here in uk,the reason i like it,and lots of others here is the lack of value, they are toys that need to be played with, not the best for sitting on shelves looking good,as the gunk goes solid, when i see that word rare, its usually a sign someone wants lots of money for it,or as some would say a return on their investment, originally people collected not to make money but complete their collection, and thats where the problem comes in,are you a true collector or an investor ken

Rare, to me, are the ones I don't see much of. When I see them I get the factor...
