I know alot of people here have done some custom painting, restorations, etc... Has anyone ever found a decent match for the silver paint that Tyco used? I'm referring to the stuff used on alot of their paint schemes (Burlington, C&O, Transfromers, the list goes on....), as well as on many of their streamliners.
Thanx.

Ken's right about variances even within Tyco's own paint, and I should know.
That said, for small touch-ups on a silver-painted car, try starting with a Silver Sharpie. I have found the color is usually very close, maybe a couple shades at most... you may or may not notice depending on the size and location of the touchup.
Rustoleum Aluminun Metallic spray paint is also a close match.
Looking at other colors... I usually start with what I have on-hand, and test by using a toothpick to apply a small drop to an inconspicuous painted area (inside overspray, bottom of a sill, backside of a stirrup, etc).

I mostly just need to touch up the doors on a few of my streamliners and paint some F-7 ladders that I've rebuilt...nothing too big, so an exact match isn't really necesary (or possible ). The closest I could find at my LHS was "imperial navy grey", which isn't very close at all. The silver sharpie is a good idea...not sure how well it would work on a ladder though. I'm guessing you bought the spray paint at an auto shop?

I get the spray paint pretty much anywhere that sells spray paint. There's nothing fancy about it and Rustoleum is a large brand here.
I would try the sharpie first. I have done several ladders with them. Get a multi-pack so you can keep one marker with a crisp pointy tip, and use the other to just mash and deform wherever it needs to fit.
