will a mantua gp20 motor truck & rear truck fit in tyco c430? the bolsters look to be the same, but thought i had better ask the pro's.

i bought a mantua c430 & the rear coupler is missing, everything but the metal truck tab the coupler fits on is gone. how can this be fixed?

thanks

jerry

If the GP20 and 430 both had the original metal-bottom motors originally, then yes they can be swapped very easily.

If they were each powertorques (plastic bottoms), the swap is again very simple.

If one or the other is different, a swap is still possible but might require a little more work.

thats what i'm wondering. if the mantua gp-20 & the mantua c430 have the same bolsters, that would be another way to get the mu-2 motors for a power torque replacement. it seems the mantua gp-20's are more pleantiful & sell cheaper on ebay than the mu-2 equipped c430's. it's all about a repower.

As GIC stated--will work if bolsters are same--one draw back is sideframes--on the MU 430's the tabs break easy upon removal and you can not use powertorque 430 sideframes on an mu motor as there is a size difference and length difference. Would have to leave GP frame on or find a damged mu430 to strip off side frames and more than likely have to re- glue to install

Hey, thats good to know!!

I have an old Mantua GP-20 that runs good. I think I'll try it in my "76 Alco 430 and see what happens

Cheers, Ian
