i bought a mantua c430 & the rear coupler is missing, everything but the metal truck tab the coupler fits on is gone. how can this be fixed?

If it's a metal tab, that's one of the earlier models. The motors run better but the paradox is repair can be frustrating.

If the parts are gone, your best bet would be to use some Kadee draft gear boxes and fasten them to the tab. Can try glue, or drill the hole in the tab larger so a 2/56 screw will fit. I've seen dozens of improvised repairs to these over the years - some better than others.

Originally, the coupler box was held in with a tiny pin - not exactly the best system for working on because the parts were easily destroyed or lost.

If you need some draft gear boxes I have plenty and could send you a few. Or maybe someone else here has a better idea...

that was what i was thinking of doing, only using the magic mate coupler so it will work with horn hooks & knucle couplers both.

SMOKIE-- I have replaced mine with kadees instead of trying to remount horn hook in original mantua coupler box. As GIC stated--those coupler boxes can be a pain with that pin.
