well i got a c430 soo line mantua yesterday & i was going to oil & grease it, but when i got to looking i wasn't able to figure out what needed what. it runs ok, but seems to have a bit of a scretch. it sounds kind of like a power torque that needs oiled, but no where near that loud.
thanks jerry

There have been a few topics about cleaning and oiling MU-2 motors, as well as disassembling and reassembling them. I believe they were in the Tyco maintenence section.
On the bottom of the powered truck you should see 3 holes. These give you access to the motor. The armature should be visible through the 2 outer holes. I *THINK* thats where the oil goes. I usually put a little oil on the axles as well.
That's what I usually do. If I'm wrong or I'm missing something I'm sure someone else will correct me.

Yes -- cheez is correct. Note also that some MU motors are noisy regardless of oiling and greasing as i own quite a few MU motors. The only way to get inside to the gears is to remove the rivets in which case you may not ever find the exact type of rivet that Mantua used. There are small rivets avaliable to re-rivet or use a 2-56 screw with a nut on the end. The MU motors i have--some run real quite-others are noisy gear grinding sound.
To grease--use a toothpick and apply through the holes to gearsEdited by - Brianstyco on February 24 2009 7:24:47 PM
