Hey,

I am new to the forum and I would like to know what glue is used to join bodies and even plastic frames. I have tried epoxies and glues that keeps your fingers together, but I can't find the right stuff.

I need to join parts to a black plastic frame and would like to know what works

Thanks.

Welcome to the forum.

The big thing is what type of plastic that frame is made of. If it's a slippery, flexible type similar to what is used on the wheels, that would be Delrin and that cannot be glued.

If it is regular styrene plastic, I use Ambroid's Pro-Weld, Plastuct Bondine Solvent Cement or Testor's Liquid Plastic Cement.

If it's styrene, which is the harder, more brittle plastic, then Ambroid Pro-weld is an excellent solvent type glue. It creates strong bonds, and dries fast. Much better than Testors solvent, or plain MEK.

You'll be able to tell...if you glue it and it holds, it's not Delrin. It won't take long before you'll be able to tell by sight and feel.

Well I went to the Hardware Store and looked at all the glues and I found one made by LOCTITE called "Plastic Bonder". The package stated that it would join all "hard to glue plastics".

It WORKED! After drying overnight, I tugged on the parts and they held fast and hard.

The black shiny stuff stuck together. I found that you need to remove the shinny part with sandpaper and put the glue down. Attach the part and hold for 30 seconds. I weighted mine overnight.
