Fellows,

I have a Bachman Spectrum Conrail Dash 8 and I have misplaced 3 handrails on the short hood and need to replace the rail on the front porch. Can they be ordered or should I keep on looking through my basement? I've already considered making replacements.

Thanks,

Smokey Valley makes/made a handrail kit for the Bachmann-Spectrum boat...

Walthers part #676-86
Smokey Valley Handrail Kits -- GE Dash 8-40C w/Stantions Fits Bachman
$15.95

Shows to be out of stock presently from Walthers. Don't know how good/bad Smokey Valley is about availability. You might check a well-stocked hobby shop and they might have one.

You could try Bachmann directly for the handrails, but I would be surprised if they had them available.

Thanks,
I bought the Walthers Cat. but thought some of you that model would be in the know and I was right. I was just thinking that I have only been to about 8 swap meets in the 22 1/2 years that I've been back in the hobby so I don't really get many parts that way. That means that postage is a major part of this hobby.

Yes, if you order by mail/web or if you buy off ebay, then postage will eat up a fair amount of your train budget. But check with a local hobby shop. The shop I go to does special order stuff for me without charging shipping. Buying at swap meets is also a good way to save a few bucks. Do you have any train clubs in your area? If so, they may have member only type swap meets.
As Tony pointed out, chances are that Bachmann does not have the parts you will need. I don't think they know what "spare parts" means! I would suggest that you learn to make your own hand railing.
