I always thought the above TYCO Diesel Switcher was a product of the Brown Box Era only, but a recent eBay auction displays the BN Diesel Switcher complete with correctly labeled Red Box.

This situation is beginning to cause me to consider tinkering with my date divisions on the sites. Way back, I put the Brown Box Era at 1970. This really isn't correct and I've known it for years, but never changed it. The Brown Box Era truly kicks in with the Consolidated Foods purchase of the TYCO line from the Tyler family. Believe the 1972 or 1973 catalog is the first to carry the familiar black connected-TY and connected-CO logo and the Consolidated Foods name on the catalog's back cover. Anyway, perhaps I'll push Red Box into the early '70s more and bring the Brown Box date up to say '72 or '73. I'll have to review the info again.

Back to my point, I had not included the Diesel Switcher in the Red Box Era site until this week. It is there now with the BN example listed. Anybody have examples in Red Boxes that they can provide roadnames and Red Box stock numbers?

Thanks

Tony Cook

Yeah, that guy really does have some gems up for auction, eh? [:D]

A guy in Oregon with all the vintage G/BN ya could want... whod'a thunk?

There's an F-unit with my name on it....

On a side note, I see you've been putting that new camera to good use. I've been impressed with your shots; think we've both upped the ante on our pics a bit. [}:)]

Although I have to admit - while the sterile white "catalog shots" are nice.... there is something to be said for showing these forlorn Tyco horses in their element on a layout, no?
