Well, it's taken long enough... given all the backseats behind the required planned improvements, unplanned repairs, unforseen issues, the building of our first potential lawsuit as litigants, and life in general...
But today, 6 +1/2 weeks after uprooting it, I finally got the STC stood up and repowered again.

I am pleased to report that casualties to the layout were nil! There was some planned and forseen damage to the seams where the large hill was removed, but that can be fixed. Aside from that... the layout was designed to be moveable and 6 years later, it passed that test with flying colors.
Of course, the landscape still has a sort of post-tornado vibe to it. The town is currently seeking the proper building permits to relocate from the Brewery Zone back to original tracts...
Even so, I was surprised how good it felt to run just a single loco around it again.
Hopefully I'll be able to build and unveil the planned STC Holiday Special in a timely fashion... but we're still one day at a time over here.

Glad to see it all came out well from the move... I know what happens when you have to move trains.

Ah, I'm glad somebody got that little joke! I just couldn't help myself; REM turned a lot of good phrases back in the day.
Ken - Um, wait a minute. Do you mean your house once had a basement, but then they just dumped a bunch of bricks inside... or had to build support walls in such configuration to make the space impractical? Sounds interesting either way...
The basement is a nice size, but logistically challenged. The utilities and services are spread out all over the place and I am hoping to consolidate them a bit when we properly finish it. But before that can even start, we need to rectify the serious sewer issue which the sellers oh so conveniently failed to disclose in a matter of documentable fraud. Good times ahead . But I did paint the "sky" behind for now and have rerouted and added some electrical circuits in the meantime.
Shaygetz: Actually, would you believe he's visible in that second picture? At full-res it's still blurry. But look inside the Sam Adams box (and the Goose Island 312 is also a great beer BTW) and you'll see part of the cement plant sticking out... and a black "dot"...
Yes, Batman is ever vigilant over my transient citizens and model stash!
Even funnier now since you asked: Robin sort of went missing for a while. When I took a quick inventory/status post move 6 weeks ago, I couldn't find him. Shoulda been on the roof near Batman. But he was hiding under the bottom boxflap instead.
Got the buildings placed yesterday. Need to rebuild the viaduct and replace the scenery / details next.

| Looking good,... I like the blue background you have--I may just paint my whole wall instead of messing with separate backdrop pieces. Did someone say "Basement!" ?? Here in Texas, we can only dream of basements, as they don't build them here (high water table, unstable soil, etc.). Without a spare room, I'm relagated to half of my garage.

| Glad to hear Batman and Robin survived the upheaval! But tell me, where are Beavis and Butthead? They did start that whole "where's Batman" search. I do like the NIN poster. My Maiden poster acts as my current backdrop. Nothing like Eddie hanging over the town.

edited to fix pics. My website generates reports for redirect errors so I might get around to fixing posts (or deleting the irrelevant ones) more easily now.
Notice the use of "might"...
I hate how this forum code bumps an old topic and spams the top of the "most recent topics" list, just because I fixed a link in an otherwise archival / nonimportant post. That's one reason why I haven't fixed too many. I may end up just deleting those older / broken posts of mine now, because I don't want the redirect errors back to my site, but I don't want to spam the forum either. Bah.

Amazing layout! I'm lucky that I haven't had to move any trains yet . . . I wasn't in the hobby when we first moved.
