that is a scam. its not a tyco at all. there is a simple way to tell. If it has never been out of the box as stated, How does the seller know that the thunder is only on one side?

this is reply from seller
The box tab is extremely difficult to open without risking, tarring the box. I don't want to force it. I don't want to damage the box. With that said you can sort of flex the ends of the box to take a peek inside to see that there is no deco on the opposite side. I hope this answer your question.

Have to agree with SDiver101. Probably something someone painted up. Shouldnt this thread be in the eBay section though?

I checked his other two items being sold...
Purina Chug Chug boxcar... "Buy it now" at $15.99, Starting bid at $12.99

$60
I think the bidding price is a bit off the deep-end!

John

I don't have a one track mind. It depends on the turn-out.
"I love your catenary!"
Is that a power-trip or just another pick-up line?

if you look real close you can see that a decal was placed over the midnight special. Not sure if the seller is the scammer or someone who had it before him. im sure someone messed with it.

Hey All,

This car or one like it has been around before. I think they said it was a prototype test of a paint scheme before the Midnight Special. Who really knows though.

It does fit the stylings of the other purported prototypes that have been posted around here in the past. That said, it would be easy for anyone to make this themselves if so inclined. Since there is no decal or tampo work to certify this as a true "prototype lab" or "preproduction" piece, and not someone else's own (admittedly nice looking) custom painted work... I would pass.

The other "Midnight Special" rework was for the Wabash Cannonball. That one does appear to have been stamped with a Tampo. It was sold on ebay in Jan 2007.
