LOL. Thats actually a neat idea...very crude yes, but SOOOO much better than that fire station I tried to make when I was 8 Basically a white cardboard box with massive doors and windows drawn on in permanent marker...I don't know if I have it anymore. I've still got the shoebox tunnel though

MM i saw an old article that was only like a page or two in MRC that demonstrated on how to make pipes that were really cheap. Take a screw or a very fine threaded bolt and wrap it with foil until you get the desired look for the pipe you need (may it be a gon load or flat car load ). It works pretty good but it takes sevral tries to make it look decent. A lone amature built the ark! A large group of professionals built the titanic!

Neat. I remember an article in MR in the 1970's showing how to wrap passenger cars in tin foil for that real aluminum look. The ones in the article looked awesome. Then a few months later someone wrote in with pictures showing their attempt- the foil all wrinkled etc. That's how it would likely have turned out if I tried it! Neat idea though.

I believe the tank car was one of those "tounge-in-cheek" models (I still don't know what that means) from the ever-expanding Walthers line (since they seem to be buying up everybody), and the kit included everything but the beer can... D.J. (Yeah, I'm "that kid"... Deal.)
I saw a ad in MR I think It showed a HO scale soda can made into a tank car! it used the old straight cans the ones without the design they use today

there's small juice cans that are in that style that you can get. I think apple and tomato juice comes that way. I know apple does as our eldest daughter drinks them. ~anna -----------------------------------
