Hi All, I wanted to share photo's of an interesting car I recently purchased. It's from Greenway Products, an Athearn box car custom painted. This one is for the IRS, the Unavoidable Route. I used several pallets of bricks painted gold to simulate the gold bar load. I'm planning on adding a few security guards later.

Reminds me of a car Lionel makes. Except without the slogan, "The Unavoidable Route". Nice touch.
Here's a Tyco one for ya, picked it up about a month ago. Nothing too fancy, but a neat car I think.

neat slogan. the bureaucrat in me thinks a us treasury car would have gold bricks and reams upon reams of paper in an IRS car.

goody goody goody... hoppers, too.
Just picked this up today... TYCO Redbox for $4.00

Seaboard Coast Line (Service Customers Like)
and, as in Paul Revere, side-bust silhouette, 1801 w/ 13 stars up and 13 stars under...
I am not sure about the message...
BRASS COPPER ALUMINUM
any of you know?
John
I don't have a one track mind. It depends on the turn-out. "I love your catenary!" Is that a power-trip or just another pick-up line?

The Revere hopper is not really a Bicentennial item (although it could almost pass for one) but is a billboard car for a cookware brand you can still buy today:
http://revereware.com/
As for the SCL markings: as far as I know they're essentially meaningless. Most of Tyco's billboard cars used real railroad reporting marks; sometimes there's a subtle connection but most of the time it's fairly random.
*EDIT*
Well, there could be an in-joke connection on this one after all:
quote:| "REVERE cookware have been part of American history since patriot and silversmith Paul Revere started making copper sheathing for naval vessels in 1801. Paul founded Revere Copper Company which evolved into Copper and Brass, Inc., the makers of Revere Ware Copper Clad Stainless Steel Cookware." |
Hmm. Naval vessels... And of all the railroads out there, they pick Seaboard Coast Line... coincidence...?
Heh. Sometimes Tyco could be pretty cool. Too bad they never got credit for it.

Here's a Tyco hopper I picked up earlier this year. If I can get some more Tyco hoppers it may come out of its box, but for now it's staying in my Tyco display.

So it is one of the harder to find ones When I bought it I was thinking I had read that it was one of the rarer ones...I payed $10 for it, got it home, and then never really looked into it
I just had a closer look at it, and the decals on both sides are mint!

The Domino hopper car I followed at auction went for 30+ without shipping. I got mine in a lot.
