Anyone have this issue? If so, I'd appreciate a scan or copy of the "Northern Illinois / Southern Indiana" layout article. That's the one that my current LotW was allegedly in. It was built by the guy who did the loco at any rate. I'd like to see more of his work.

What's this? Even after all these views, not a one member of the Packrat Library has anything? Not even a "not sure but I'll look"? That would be a first for this forum where mag requests are concerned. Booooo. Ya'll disappoint me.

GIC:

I know someone off forum who has MR's way back, I'll ask him, if you don't mind waiting...?

OK, I've sent him a request. He may be deployed overseas briefly for the Air Force, like 10 days or so. Anyway I sent him an email request for ya... I'll let you know the outcome. It'll likely be tomorrow as I don't have phone or computer access for a couple of weeks other than work...

GiC,
That's pretty interesting to have a loco that had a part in a feature layout in MR. Nice score!

Hey GIC:

Matt just emailed me back and said he found this issue/article and will try to scan it before leaving. He's deplyoying tomorrow, though he can't say where the Air Force is sending him. I think he's gone for a week to 10 days.

Anyway, Will update when I know more.

Besides I was trying to catch up to Zebrails question in the other post which came before your updates here.

Oh never mind.

But Hoo-Rah, sally forth, tally-ho and carry on...

YOU, sir, ROCK. Thank you! Tell your buddy I owe him a cold one, uh, somehow...

Well either I misunderstood or the person who later told me was wrong, because my locos aren't in the article. But that's definitely the guy who sold them to me! Told me about how he made them, he virtually gave them to me because he wanted them to have a good home with another Rock Island fan. Really nice guy. I'm sad to say I would never have remembered his name had he not written it and some contact info ("in case you're in the neighborhood, stop by and visit") on a piece of paper I kept in the box with the Cary SW. Sadly I've never taken up the offer. But I got his detailed Atlas-Roco Rock GP38 #4372 and a superdetailed custom Rock Island Athearn Baywindow from him as well. I only paid $30 for the lot in 2003 or 4! But he never told me about the MR article. Mentioned his layout, was pretty noncholant / humble about it. Someone else at the show later told me about the article when I showed him what I bought.

Thanks for the stuff! That layout is pretty damn impressive! Arguably even better than the newer nitpickier stuff in MR these days. His "any road / any time" philosophy seems to match my own. Maybe I SHOULD give him a call sometime.

Oh and thanks again to everyone who chimed in to help. It is much appreciated.

GICer:

Always a pleasure to help you out. All to often your contributions go unacknowledged. This was a chance to rectify that and I'm delighted to do so.

Cheers,
