Hi Guys,
Today I west to the local train store to buy some oil for my trains.
and lo and behold in a corner sits a box of misc.ho stuff.
I dig through this box to find a Union Pacific M/T GP20,a Pennsy M/T F7 B unit,and a Tyco Bethlehem hopper.
I got all this stuff for $6.50 and the Gp 20 runs pretty good!
What are some good deals that youse guys have come across?

I wish I lived in your neck of the woods as I ran into some old Tyco at a local shop. A Santa-Fe F7 AB set in pieces for $100! I passed of course.

Yes, Tyco trains run fine and I can't see why it gets such a bad rap. I recently bought an Atlas Classic RS-1 for like $60. It's a smooth reliable, well detailed engine. But my 40 year old Tyco/Mantua diesels that I got for $20 each run nearly as smooth. I just got a 60's CBQ 430. It runs super.

The complaint I often hear is Tyco uses truck mount couplers and they don't work well with body mount couplers. Well that's Athearn's fault for putting couplers on the body.

John,
I hear ya about the body mount couplers, that's why I run body mounts with body mount,& truck mounted couplers with truck mounts.
I am basicly an O gauge operator, but in the past year I have been bitten by the toy like HO stuff of my younger years.
And this forum and Tyco site sure has helped a lot!

Tycokind,
I recently won 2 auctions a BN Shark for $1.75 that came with the PT truck out of the shell and missing a spring and pick-up with shipping less than $5. It was fixed in a few minutes and it runs good and lights. The other was A BN GP-20 for $3 and $1 shipping that was listed for parts. It runs well and lights. I like to tinker.

I was bitten by the HO bug just recently too. I ditched HO for MPC Lionel in 1981. Yes, lots of fond Tyco and AHM memories for me too.

There's a local junk/antique shop in town that specializes in trains, mainly classic Lionel and O gauge.

But the owner often brings home HO from his adventures, some by choice but mostly because it was included in estate lots.

He claims to not know much about it, and I believe him. He's got tons of Tyco in rummage boxes for next to nothing (engines can be hit and miss though). He often lets me have them for less because I help him with stuff. That GN430 came from there, for a compaative song. And I've found some other goodies that weren't spectacular but for a price that can't be ebayed.

Last week on eBay nailed a brand new in the box uncataloged Burlington Northern Diesel Switcher and a brand new in the box Western Maryland Flat with 3 Tractors...got the BN Switcher for $5 or $6 and the Flat for $1...paid as much for shipping as I did for the pair.

That gives me two of the four odd BN uncataloged '70s items. I have the F-9A and coming is the Diesel Switcher. Just need the C430 and GP20 to complete my set of these.

What a score, Tony! I won a red box reefer car Friday night for $3.00 plus $5.00 shipping. It's a car I gotta have. It's frustrating to see all these great individual cars on ebay for $2.00 to $3.00 plus $5.00 shipping. Finding lots with a high percentage of keepers is frustrating too.
