Hello
Though it was never a TYCO offering, I thought some might be interested to know that IHC is offering a new run of FP-45s in HO-scale. This appears to be similar to the model once in the Life-Like line.
There have been at least a couple ready-to-run FP-45s. AHM, Life-Like, Lima, Mehano, and Model Power have all over the years had them in their lines. Athearn also once offered both an FP-45 and F-45 in HO-scale.
From the picture, I believe this new IHC is a Slovian-made item that IHC and Mehano have both sold over the years and might be a match to the fromer Life-Like example. This version FP-45 does not have swinging pilots and does have steps coming down from the cab and in the rear section of the unit.
IHC posted a $39.95 retail with a $34.98 sale price in its January '06 Model Railroader ad. I have contacted IHC for availability and roadname info. The ad shows only a B&O example with foreign couplers.

Hello
Found out that the new IHC HO-scale FP-45s are going to be available in a limited run. IHC has Amtrak (Phase I); Santa Fe (Blue and Yellow Freight Warbonnet); B&O (solid blue); and Milwaukee Road (UP Armour Yellow) in stock currently. These are produced by Mehano in Europe. This newest production run FP-45 does feature a can motor and all-wheel drive with X2F couplers. This model's shell was the former AHM offering from the 1970s. The IHC-Hobby.com website does not include the FP-45 and may not, as the run is apprently a short one for this offering. Retail is $39.98 and IHC is selling them at present for $34.98.

Did IHC ever respond to your questions? I sent an email asking for info on the FP-45 mechanism. They never responded even after the third email I sent. IHC did show 4 different paint schemes for the FP-45 on their web site. They were listed at the end of the C-628 listing. However, they are no longer listed on the site. I think the models may not have arrived in the USA yet. They did list the SD24 at least 9 months prior to having them to sell.
