Well guys I took the plunge tonight and bought the Olympus LE-170 I was talking about.
Though I'm just figuring it all out, here's a sample of the quality...of the camera...not American, Train & Track's quality...

Wuggawuggawugga - eww. Wow. I think you're right - that IS worse than the Athearn GP30!
At least it has REAL BRASS NOSE GRABS - ooooooooh!
