Both are #355-E

Any additional info on this would be great.

Umm... one is in an upside-down box? ;)
(*ducks*)
The one on the right has more checkers, extending all the way to the left edge of the car. Can also see three rows of checkers, under the blue logo, on the version on the right versus only two rows on the left.
My guess is the one on the left is later-production. Should have been ever-so-slightly cheaper to make. But that's just a guess...

If that's not what you meant, then my apologies. My guess is the one on the left is later-production: should have been ever-so-slightly cheaper to make. But that's just a guess...

Yep, that's what I meant. I thought it was pretty obvious when you put them side by side. How could one actually miss the fact that the boxes were cut and printed upside down?

| I'm curious to know which one came first. I'm hoping you're correct that the one on the left was a later production only because personally it is more appealing to my eyes.

Will being posting another engine variation I discovered and I'm surprised it hasn't been mentioned here yet. It's not mentioned on Tony's site either. Once you see it, it is SO obvious.
Will post later, have to get some pics and go round up the kids. Will post in the motive power section.

Central: Are these your models? If so, eBay pitchmen are certainly taking selling cues from this forum. I'd swear I saw a pair of these listed earlier today, seemingly NOS, both variants pictured side by side just like your forum topic pic. MagAc

Have seen quotes and pictures taken from my TYCO Resource and used in eBay auction descriptions. Another reason I do try to avoid getting into value/rarity talk as much as possible on my site. Not that I'm trying to hide or mislead, but for every time I see something go for a great price another will turn up and do little business.
I stand behind my claim that TYCO most generally produced in massive quantity and NOTHING is really very rare or unique. If there's one, there many more.

wouldn't it be interesting to determine if, for example, the raft of GT 430s are the result of potential sellers visiting the forum as guests, searching for the proper bait with which to land potential on-line auction fish? MA trying to find a good local show; although a sincere "Thank you" is in order for the many postings of shows at major venues.
