Quality is somewhat similar to Lima, not as good as Athearn.
Yes, MP imported from Mehano and sold under their own brand name. Don´t know if they still do.

Ken,
check your local hobby shop for a new one, in Germany they´re less than 10 euros. Current ones feature metal wheels!
