I know that we have several great areas here with regards to kit bashing, loose ends and layouts, but I was wondering if maybe we could use an area called just tricks and tips...notice that there was one of these on another forum that I sometimes, not often visit that had this area and it did provide me with some great tips and ideas on a lot of areas for making things and doing some neat ideas,
example was to get pictures on the internet from penny's and target for curtains and blinds, then reducing and printing out in color for buildings...they looked great, using masking tape for pull down blinds, items like this...any thoughts on this... guess it should go to a moderator or head person for the forum...any thoughts...the "fanged one"...Garret

I believe a "Hints and Tips" area would be a great idea. I've seen several discussion groups and each time I look to see if they have something in this area.
Whether its a tip for building trees, a road, ground cover, a waterfall and so on or even more complex tasks - I'm sure that everyone could benefit - and contribute.
Cheers Bill

Hey Guys:
As noted, there are layout ideas in their own section, and a service one for loco's and a kitbashing one, so a general one would mean a fair bit of redundancy and cross-pollinating. With seperate categories it narrows the search for things.
just my opinion...

Do not know if I agree that it narrows, it may also be confusing as to what area to place it in...and where to look sometime later... I know at the other forum that I mentioned it was easy to go to the tips areas and read all the old ones, no sure if I would say the same for layout, maybe ok on kitbashing, but would not look for an item on making trees....the fanged one...Garret

Hey Fangy:
It narrows in the sense, you don't have to go through a variety of stuff you have no interest in to get to the category you are looking for.
Like subject or topic areas. Worked pretty well so far. General folders tend to get filled up with all kinds of miscellany as it's not categorized when posted.
Perhaps a rolling stock section and even a Scenery one. Trackplans and construction are already covered.

Gareth,
ok I understand that layout and construction are handled, guess I am looking for some area where there are those misc. items like senery, weathering, how to do items... see kitbashing is just that to me...kit bashing or model making and changes to them... layout to me is just that also, layout, wiring, design, how to build framework, etc....guess I am leaning towards one area that does the senery and has neat little tricks and ideas like making waterfalls, interiors, window blinds, different techniques, stuff like that... It was just a thought...that's all...
