Seeing Gareth's topic made me pull my old Lima engine out from under my layout. A vendor gave it to me at a train show a few years ago...he told me all i needed to do was glue the cover onto the bottom of the unpowered truck. I tried a bunch of times, but it never worked (except once when I taped the truck cover on to see if it even worked[:D]).
Anyway, now I've taken the engine apart. I tested the motor and it works fine. I'm pretty sure the only piece missing (ironically) is the cover for the front truck. I should be able to scrathbuild that. Can anyone tell me how to wire these? Thanx.

Wiring a loco like this is something I could probably do easier than try to describe. But there should be a wire from one side of the motor to the pick-up strip under the motor, the other that can be seen in your photo connects to the other side of the motor (to be soldered). The metal clip on the other end of the wire goes over the groove in the brass pin that holds the unpowered truck to the chassis. Looks like the pin is upside down in the photo. The thin part points up, the wide end goes through the pick-up strip, then through the truck and then the chassis, with the metal clip holding it in place. Should be a spring that goes on the pin before inserting it through the pick-up and truck. You probably know much of this if it was you that pulled it apart in the first place, but I can't assume too much.
That plastic cover plates often get broken because people force them out. You need to use a screwdriver to push the lugs in. This releases them and they come out easy.
Yes, I reckon I'd have had it done in the time it took to type that. [;)] Well, almost.

Hey B67. I think I get it. It was wiring the motor to the wheels on the front truck that I wasn't getting. I just noticed the tab from the pick-up strip that sticks up just above the front axle. I'll give it a try and let you know how it goes. Thanx for the help!

DUDE...I got it working! OH, and I also figured out why I could never get it working before. It turns out that on each axle one of the wheels is insulated. I guess I was putting them in backwards[B)]
