More than that, actually. It's pretty cool but I'm not sure I would actually pay that much for one.

But, there are a lot of unique one-off parts underneath the bodies. The trucks are unique, and the articulation mounts could be broken easily. In other words you can't really fix a Tyco Talgo without having another Tyco Talgo; that's probably one reason they are so valuable. About the only standard parts are the motor mechanics, the horns, and lightbulb. Everything else is fairly unique and scarce.

Guys,
I have a Talgo Boxed kit on ebay as of now for $200.00, sounds high but it is a untouched sealed parts boxed kit which is one of the nicest I have seen, the Talgo train due to its design can be very fragile when working it & one has to be very carefull when doing so, I have learned to drill all screw holes out some what larger to elimnate cracking mounting posts especially on a kit car or engine before installing screws, have to be very carefull to get all scews straight also, the sets are still around at times but are getting harder to find in decent shape, I have seen these sets anywhere from $100.00 up to $500.00 ( boxed sets) over the past yrs & it seems that $250.00 is the about the going price for a decent set or is the price that usually takes it off the table, any interest in the set I have look in the 04 ebay store or email me,
Abe
