Hi all,

today ist the 125th anniversary of the probably most famous train in the world, the Orient Express. On June, 5th 1883 it started its first trip from Paris to Constantinople (spelling o.k? Today it´s Istanbul, Turkey). It was the first european luxury train, operated by CIWL, the Compagnie Internationale des Wagons Lits (International Sleeping Car Company).

The Pullman car consist ended operation in 1977, this train was eventually declassified to a normal express train terminating in Budapest, Hungary. Yet, the well known Pullman Cars are still in service, for special trains running occasionally all the way down to Turkey on the old Orient Express! Very expensive though...

One more reason to have a toast on this famous train!

Cheers,

Martin
