Just reiceved my Model RailRoad News magazine-so much better than MRR. The article states that the MotorMax -- A.K.A -- Fresh Cherries will no longer be sold in U.S Wal-Marts and that Walthers[:(] will be the main source. There are several new releases. The 1982 Honda Accord / 1977 Ford Grenada 2 dr and the 1975 Honda Civic. These will be available in Canadian Wal-Marts though.[:0]. The article did not mention why Wal-Mart was dropping them.

HOLY CRAP! THE AMERICAN FORD GRANADA! IN HO SCALE!! [:O] [Yeah!] [Yes!] [:D] [:D] [:D]

The most under-appreciated Mustung-come-Mercedes-Ripoff in history! I love it!

Seriously... I actually emailed them just over a year ago and suggested they consider the Granada. I mean, they did the Maverick and Bobcat fer pete's sake. Then I lost that email account, always wondered if it did any good. AND THEY PICKED THE 2-DOOR! [^]

Huzzah! That would be the ONLY way Walthers would get any money from me.

Now I need to find a few more autoracks ;) And some Plano sidewall kits to make the below:

Our old Granada that we had when I was a kid, looked like the 2nd one from left on the top row: White 2-door with a Red "Landau" roof. That is a RARE picture and a lucky combo of my fav. railroad hauling my fav. automobile...

These are being sold at Wal-Mart. The Black box is Model Collection and the red box is Reel Rides. Both are by Malibu International. Is this the same company that makes Fresh Cherries?

Hot Wheels also has 1:87 in the same case and stand. Also, I think I have seen them by Model Power.

Life-Like used to make a pretty good 1978-79 F-150, which would be passable for the early 80's as well (the grille went from "semi-ovoid" to more squared in 1980). Could also stand-in for an mid-70's model if the cab is not prominently posed.

A little crude by today's standards and no interior, but excellent detail in the body, just a little flash cleanup and a new windshield is necessary .

They made these back when they were still making the Chevy Citations. Kind of hard to find today - I think the tooling was broken (late-run Citations had lots of flaws before they disappeared altogether); but they're cheap! Often included in accessory / building kits; Three-packs even included tonneau covers for the beds.

[/quote] I have several packs i purchased off ebay a while back at a steal. I wish they still made them and the chevy citations. I own a real 79 F250 4X4 with a gas guzzling 460-doesn't see much action on the hwy now with the current gas crisis[V]. I've seen some modellers detail those ford trucks into nice ho vehicles form the old life-like pkg--some changed the wheels out and repainted the body's and addded windsheilds with the window glaze stuff.

I don't expect the Fresh Cherries to be Walthers exclusive. I have purchased them by the case directly from Motor Max and the cost to dealers makes them come out very close to the Wal-Mart price, at least the way we priced them. Walthers does however put a higher than you might like retail on them at $4.50.

Doc's Caboose has them for $2.89...

I'll be getting more in stock as the new cars are released this summer.

Walthers is such a ripoff it's rediculous.
I find it hard to see why people buy from them.
Their prices on most items are over MSRP![:0]

Are these the ones you're referring to? I've been playing with a couple this weekend to see what can be done with them.

Maybe this should be a new topic. I just went to Wmart to get a new activation card for my phone and stumbled on a Reel Rides '70 GTO for a buck. It was the only one and not marked. I got 2 Porche Spiders from TOP GUN at the same price a couple of weeks ago. Some of you have already stumbled on these for sure. They're very accurate and would look nice on a Tyco car loader and on the layout.
