After a few years, the address has changed location. So, I've updated the hyperlink. It is January 12/13, 2012, today.
Yes, it's true!

And I thought I was dreaming when I did this to my trains!

I don't have a one track mind. It depends on the turn-out. "I love your catenary!" Is that a power-trip or just another pick-up line?

| This could be called the first version of Myth Busters--Military style. Very good and interesting video. One tough 2-8-0

The person explaining this test seemed to be getting frustrated with the results. Seems the designers of this experiment forgot about the laws of physics. If the crew had placed the explosives on the outside rail on a curve they would have gotten better results. Just the momentum and weight of the train on this straight track carried it over the problem. Move the landing ramp(rail) off to one side as it would be on a curve the first test most likely would have been successful. I was actually laughing at their attempts on the forth, fifth, and sixth tries. You are right that 2-8-0 was one tough old engine.
Great Video! Larry http://www.hoseeker.org
