On thursday may 22nd 2008--in the afternoon hrs in MT Holly, Charlotte and Monroe NC -- A train headed from Monroe westbound through Charlotte into Mt Holly caused fires along the mainline. Sparks from the train burned 13 acres in Mt holly -The largest of the fires caused by the train--with all area fire depts battling the fires set by train. A major hwy in Mt Holly was closed for 2 hrs while fire fighters fought the flames. The fires in Charlotte and Monroe were not as bad. The train was stopped just out of Mt Holly above the fires it started. Cause of the source for fires from train not known at this time.

| Wasn't it CSX that also had a giant derailment in past couple of years? They're sure having a tough time lately.
