I took this engine apart today and the shell is plastic with a lot of weights inside. The shell has two screw holes in the top. The base is made of brass. I have added some new pics to help identify.

Thanks, Jeremy

Yeah Ken, it' doesn't run fast but it runs smooth. I bet the base alone weighs 2lbs. When I got it, somone had put probably 12-18 oz. of weights inside the shell also, so I had a 3-4 lb. engine and that motor pulled it fine. You defintley don't want to drop it on your toe.

Wow, that is a beastie. It even has a brass flywheel. Interesting that it runs smooth with that spur gear arrangement, but then I got an old Varney GG1 to run smooth by playing with the mesh.
I wonder if that's the original shell, and what they had mounted to it. [?] You should mount an Athearn shell on it.

I'm pretty sure this is the orginal shell, because the screw hole towards the front seems molded with shell and there is a matching screw hole in the weight. The one in the back is drilled, and was holding one of the weights someone added to it.

Based on the similatity of the tube like pattern on the fuel tank I think this is a Globe model.

Hello Jeremy
Nice little beast you have there. Like that description! Here what I think this F7 is, of course I maybe completely wrong.
1) The Shell and gas tank look like they are made by Globe. http://www.hoseeker.net/Globe/globeaf7adummydiagram.jpg
2) The frame and motor could be a Tenshodo. The motor really stumped me, but I found this DC-295 motor with the brushes mounted in the center of the frame instead of the front. The flywheel maybe a kitbash. http://hoseeker.net/pacificfastmailinformation/PFM9thcatalog1964pg23.jpg
3) The trucks could be Tenshodo or Varney. http://hoseeker.org/internationalmodelinc/internationalmodelincpg20.jpg http://hoseeker.net/assemblyexplosionvarney/varney2060kf31951pg2.jpg
Hope this helps. Larry
