Hey,

Maybe some here could help or would be interested in wandering down this old path...

What is the connection between Bachmann and GEM Models?

Once at Caboose Hobbies in Denver, I saw a GEM brass HO-scale F-9A diesel and noticed that it appeared to be the same as the Bachmann F-9A.

Later I found that GEM also had a GP-40 in HO that was a dead-ringer for the original Bachmann effort of 1970. There are also GEM brass Metroliner models that appear very close to the tooling of Bachmann's old efforts.

The other note on the F-9A GEM model at Caboose Hobbies was that it was riding on a Bachmann frame/motor. This was the original F-9A motor with the large weight.

Did Bachmann clone the GEM pieces? Is there a connection? Does anybody know for certain?
